Balança Beach

Balança Beach is situated on the eastern side of the jagged headland of Ponta da Piedade, showing off the amazing natural beauty of this area, with a remarkable diversity of geographical relief features,
The intense ochre colours of the cliffs have already earned this coastline the name of Costa d´Ouro (the Golden Coast).
The beach owes its name to a isolated rock formation that reminds of an ancient balance (“balança”).

This is a narrow beach, in between high cliffs, that should only be visited at low tide, with a difficult access, making it more easier to access it by boat, or to admire its beauty in one of the many tourist boat trips.
The beach has no facilities whatsoever.
